A 12 year-old girl was shot to death and her mother was wounded in a shooting on the North Side tonight. Police said the neighborhood has been the scene of several shootings in recent days.
The shots were fired from outside a house on Brightridge Street and were fired through a door and a boarded-up window, hitting people inside.
At least seven people were inside the house at the time of the shooting.
Police Chief Nathan Harper came to the scene of the shooting, which occurred about 7:15 p.m.
“If you succumb to the temptation of using violence in the struggle, unborn generations will be the recipients of a long and desolate night of bitterness, and your chief legacy to the future will be an endless reign of meaningless chaos.”
